Cookie Policy
Which cookies and similar technologies LectureGuru actually uses, what they do, and how you can control them.
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. We also use similar technologies such as localStorage. They keep you signed in, protect the Service against abuse, remember viewing progress and help us understand how the product is used.
LectureGuru uses strictly necessary cookies (sign-in, security), functional cookies for presentation viewing, and PostHog analytics. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies.
In the cookie banner, you can accept or reject analytics cookies and session replay. Basic cookieless analytics runs without acceptance. Necessary sign-in cookies and functional storage remain separate.
1. Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the Service to function and are set without consent, as permitted by the ePrivacy rules:

2. Functional cookies — presentation viewing
When you open a shared presentation, we set a first-party cookie that remembers your viewing progress and enables the presentation’s owner to see aggregate and per-viewer engagement analytics (slides viewed, quiz results):

A copy of this identifier is also kept in your browser’s localStorage. If you are signed in, viewing is linked to your account instead.
3. Analytics
We use PostHog for product analytics. When the website or application loads, it records page views, clicks, coarse feature usage events and technical errors in cookieless mode, without storing analytics identifiers in your browser or linking them to your account identity. In this mode, PostHog uses a daily rotating identifier derived on its server from request information. After acceptance in the cookie banner, we enable analytics cookies, persistent analytics storage, account identification when you are signed in, and session replay (playback of page interactions). If you reject, basic cookieless analytics continues without session replay. Server-side operational events may still be associated with your account. PostHog processes data in the EU; section 5 of our Privacy Policy describes recipients.
We do not use advertising, marketing or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell data to advertisers.
4. Local storage
We store your cookie-banner choice (cookie_consent), the presentation-viewer identifier and editor preferences in localStorage. PostHog analytics state is stored only after acceptance. You can remove stored items by clearing site data.
5. How to control cookies
The cookie banner offers Accept and Reject as equal choices. Rejection does not enable analytics cookies or session replay; basic cookieless analytics continues. You can remove your saved choice by clearing site data and choose again on your next visit. Blocking cookies alone does not stop cookieless analytics. Blocking necessary cookies disrupts sign-in and core features.
6. Changes
We will update this page whenever the cookies we use change, and note the date of the last update above.
